Le Terrain Bouchaballe is the title of a novel and a play, in which Max Jacob describes life in Quimper.  It is based on a true story which had caused controversy: the legacy to the town of a plot of land destined for an old people’s home on which, finally, a theatre would be built.  Jean Caveng, amateur artist and friend of the poet, was an expert on Quimper.  In addition to this large landscape of Quimper, he did a set of small gouaches depicting the protagonists and events in this incredible affair.
