Oil on canvas

D.12-2-1

Allocated by the Fonds National d’Art Contemporain in 1913

H. 65 cm - L. 81 cm

Albert Marquet spends the summer of 1906 in Fécamp in the company of Raoul Dufy, also a member of the Fauves, several months after the 1905 Salon d’Automne where they had caused an uproar.  The range of colours is already less vivid that the previous year and this is an indication of the painter’s future development.  This picture was deposited at the Musée du Havre in 1906, but its boldness proved displeasing and it was transferred to Quimper.
